How it works

Multiledger is a remote MCP connector. Claude calls its tools when you ask a question, and Multiledger fetches the answer from each Xero organisation you have shared, in parallel, and returns it to Claude.

Setup

  1. Step 1

    Agenta creates your workspace

There is no self-serve sign-up yet. We create the workspace, add your admins and agree with you who should have access.

  2. Step 2

    Each person connects Xero

Each person signs in to Multiledger and connects their own Xero login. Xero's consent screen lets them tick every organisation they want to share. Multiledger can reach only the organisations that person can already open in Xero, at the level their Xero role allows.

  3. Step 3

An admin builds the group chart and mapping

The admin builds the group chart of accounts from one organisation's chart in a click. Accounts with matching codes map automatically. The rest are mapped on the mapping page, and intercompany accounts can be marked for elimination.

  4. Step 4

    Add the connector in Claude

Copy the connector URL from your Multiledger dashboard. In Claude, go to Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector, and paste it in. Claude then asks you to sign in to Multiledger and approve the connection.

Workspace admins choose who may use the connector and can narrow each person to a list of organisations. Multiledger works in claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Claude mobile, and Claude Team and Enterprise as a custom connector.

Tools Claude can use

Every tool is read-only. Claude picks the tool that fits your question.

List organisations
The Xero organisations you have shared and are allowed to use.
Side-by-side reports
Profit and loss with comparative periods, balance sheet, trial balance and bank summary, for any or all of your organisations, laid out next to each other.
Consolidated reports
Consolidated profit and loss, balance sheet and trial balance, built on the group chart of accounts. Intercompany accounts marked for elimination are reported separately from the totals.
Sales invoices and bills
Across organisations, filtered by date, status and contact.
Bank transactions
Transactions from the bank accounts in each organisation.
Chart of accounts
The chart of accounts for each organisation.
Contact search
Search for contacts across your organisations.
Intercompany balances
The balances between your entities, with a check that they net to zero.
Mapping status
Which accounts are mapped to the group chart and which are not yet.

How results come back

  • Multiledger queries each organisation in parallel. If one fails, the result says which one, so Claude knows the answer is incomplete.
  • Unmapped accounts are never dropped from a consolidated report. They appear labelled with their organisation until someone maps them.
  • Multiledger supplies the data and calculates the totals. It does not check Claude's reasoning about them, so check material figures in Xero before you rely on them.

What is not included

  • Bank reconciliation.
  • Payroll.
  • Writing to Xero. Multiledger cannot create, edit, approve or pay anything.
